There is always fun to be had with the Dyll family! Brett and Nicole's wedding was sweet, and memorable, to say the least. We went to the wedding in Rockwall and then headed out to the Dyll's house for the reception. Sadly enough we didn't get a picture of the happy couple, only the beautiful bride. We were so glad Tina made the trip from San Francisco so we could spend some time together.

The Arboretum in the fall is a must see!! We were able to take Ellie a couple of weeks ago when went to Rockwall for a wedding. There were SO MANY pumpkins!!! Ellie enjoyed climbing and sitting on them, finding the "baby pumpkins", checking out the fun little castles, and sitting in Cinderella's carriage.

Lion King 3D

Ellie and I went to see Lion King 3D in the theater with Hollie and Cy! It was so much fun! Ellie and Cy did great! They thoroughly enjoyed their movie meal with popcorn, candy and a drink. Ellie kept her glasses on through the movie until she fell to sleep with about 15 minutes left. Special memories!

A couple of weeks ago we took Ellie to Bubble Fest at the Science Spectrum. She wasn't that impressed with the bubble show, but she enjoyed playing with bubbles afterward and checking out some of the toys in the exhibit hall.

Last week Ellie started Tuesday-Thursday school at our church called SuperKids. We were a little nervous how our shy little girl would do, but we were pleasently surprised at how well she did! From San Fran to San Diego

We had such a wonderful week in California!! We flew into San Jose to spend a couple of days in the San Francisco area with T.J.'s sister Tina. We then drove down the coast to Santa Cruz and spent an evening with a good friend of T.J.'s from dental school. From there we went to Monterey where we took Ellie to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. We again enjoyed the drive along the coast through Santa Barbara and Malibu on our way to Laguna. We spent a night in Laguna Hills, had a little time in Laguna Beach and then made it to our final stop, San Diego. While in San Diego we met up with one of T.J.'s friends from Rockwall, made it to a Padres game, and watched T.J. walk across the stage to become a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry. It was a fun and exciting trip, especially with a 2 year old!!

Today was Ellie's first day of gymnastics!! She LOVED it! She got to stretch, jump on several trampolines, play in a sponge pit, swing way up high in a harness, and "tumble". She was excited about the butterfly stamp on her foot at the end of class for a job well done and the popsickle from her teacher before we left! I was impressed with her teacher and the parent and me tumble class at Ready Set Go!

I'm a little late on this post! Ellie and I did the mommy and me swimming class at the Tech Rec Pool again at the beginning of June. Ellie loves the water, but would rather be doing her own thing than following the swim teacher's instructions. She had tons of fun on the last day of class when daddy got to join us for free play!

It's Potty Time

Potty training in 1 day? No way! 2 days? Don't think so. 3 days? I'll have to tell you tomorrow! We are on day 2 of this patience building experience and here's what we've had so far: 3 Capri Suns, 3 suckers, 3 snack packages of M&M's, and 3 successful uses of the potty .. successful potty training? Not sure. Maybe I'll know better what I'm doing next time I potty train!

We went to Oklahoma City for a dear friend's graduation party. While there we stayed at the Hampton in Bricktown .. it had an awesome indoor swimming pool with a slide, water spouts, umbrella and basketball goal! Ellie really enjoyed her first swim this year!

Saturday night we celebrated Michael's graduation from Law School! Congratulations Michael!! We are so proud of you in your accomplishment and wish you all the best as you begin this next stage in life! Thanks for inviting us to join in your celebration!

Fort Worth Zoo

Ellie had her first trip to the zoo last Friday. Unfortunately she wasn't quite as excited about it as we thought she would be. T.J. and I enjoyed it though! Ellie had fun feeding the birds and riding in the stroller we rented. She was scared by the elephants, fake crocodile and fake dinosaurs and would get really upset when she spotted one. I guess we'll have to try again next year!

When I was in 5th grade my family was privileged to be the sponsoring family for 2 Russian exchanged students. Our lives were blessed immensely during the 4 1/2 months they spent in Lubbock in the spring of 1992. This past weekend we had a special visitor!! Sveta, it was such a blessing having you here and to be able to catch up after so many years! I cherish the time we had with you and hope we will be able to make a trip to Florida sometime to see you and meet Jim!

Ellie is TWO!! How can that be? It seems like just yesterday we were leaving the hospital with our tiny little bundle of joy! Now she is growing up on us! Every day is exciting with Ellie in it! She has become quite a talker with her large vocabulary. Unfortunately not everyone gets the pleasure of hearing that sweet little voice because she is so shy! Still her favorite place to be is outside swinging, watering or playing at the park! Her "binty" (blanky) still goes everywhere with us! She hugs, kisses, feeds, and tries to dress her blanky and has even started saying "binty shoo-y" and will try to put a diaper on her blanky. It cracks us up!

Today we went for her 2 Year Well Check appointment .. thankfully we have a healthy, yet petite, "toddler". Here are her 2yr stats:

Height: 33 in ~ 50th percentile

Weight: 19 lbs 9 oz ~ less than 3rd percentile

Head Circumference: 17 in ~ less than 3rd percentile

I have the MOST amazing husband!! For one of my Christmas presents T.J. took on the challenge of remodeling our guest bathroom! He put in 7 weekends and many countless hours of work to make this bathroom perfect with all new tile, countertop, sink, faucets, fixtures, texture and paint!! And he did almost everything by himself with only a little help with the plumbing. He even added 2 can lights over the tub and toilet! I am SO proud of you Hon!! I love it!!! You did an AWESOME job!!

A Little More February Fun

Saturdays are so fun because Ellie loves having Daddy home!! After seeing T.J.'s hat on the bed Ellie decided she wanted to go get her hat too!

She thought it would be a great idea to carry her new "big girl potty" into the playroom, haha!

For one Friday playgroup we met at the mall to play at the indoor play area. Ellie had tons of fun on the slide and had fun sitting with Zaylee on the elephant!

We thought it might be fun to take Ellie to her first circus - Circus Gattis. But the only thing she was excited about was the dog show and she cried through almost everything else! Maybe it was a little too soon for the circus!

Ellie wasn't too sure about riding the little ponies .. it was a short ride followed by panic and tears!

Ellie likes to go get her vacuum when I am vacuuming the house. One day I was vacuuming and Ellie was off to the playroom for her vacuum. A few minutes later this is what I found .. she was really trying to get clean up those leaves! She is definitely related to her "Gigi!" Guess I shouldn't leave the back door open when I'm vacuuming.

It was a great start to the day with some yummy cinnamon rolls! All we were missing was T.J.! Too bad he couldn't stay home with us!

T.J. was so sweet, of course .. at lunch he brought home some special surprises! For Ellie he brought one red rose, a heart shaped balloon and cute little doggie! And for me it was a beautiful bouquet of red roses and white gerber daisies! And some yummy chocolate dipped strawberries for all of us to enjoy! Thanks Honey!

T.J. had 2 birthday dinners! First in Dallas for some BBQ and then in Lubbock for some surf & turf! They were both yummy! We also celebrated with some banana pudding, one of T.J.'s favorites.

Our lives have been blessed so richly by this precious little girl!!! We can't believe our baby is already a year and a half!! Ellie is constantly changing and growing!

-Within the past couple of weeks she has picked up 5 new words: juice, trash, bowl, cheese, and "lo" (for hello). Her vocabulary also includes bubble, bow, ball, fish, shoes, Momma and Dada. Juice and shoes sound very similar, so when she says "zoos" it may take a minute to figure out what she is saying.

-She has stolen our hearts with her sweet little kisses she now loves to give us, and to her stuffed animals of course.

-Her beloved blanky goes wherever she goes, oftentimes holding it in her mouth by the horns. Blanky gets a bath at least once a day, if not more.

-Her favorite toys are her rocking giraffe, the little red fire engine that she rides all over the house, and most importantly her watering pail. She is definitely a girl on the go!

-She loves to put on jewelry and has just started putting on mom and dad's shoes. It's hilarious to see her clomp around the house in our big shoes.

-Ellie is not a big eater, as you may be able to tell. Her favorite foods are cheese, strawberries, avocados, tomatoes, and anything sweet or chocolate! (don't know where she got that from!)

San Fran

We just got back from a weekend visit to San Francisco to see T.J.'s sister. Although it rained all weekend long, we had an absolutely wonderful time!! Our accommodations at the Omni Hotel were fabulous (thanks again Tina)! While there we put nearly 250 miles on our rental car .. we drove from Downtown San Francisco to Golden Gate Park, to the Golden Gate Bridge, to Salsalito, and back Downtown on Saturday. Ellie got to ride her first carousel at the Zeum Children's Museum - she loved it! Then on Sunday we drove to Palo Alto for church, then to Menlo Park to see Menlo College where Tina will be working, to Half Moon Bay to look for the Arata Pumpkin Farm (which we never could find but enjoyed some yummy Mexican food instead) and then back to San Francisco where we went to the Fisherman's Wharf. Ellie loved watching the sea lions and riding the "World Famous" Cable Car. Ghirardelli Square was definitely worth walking to!! We all enjoyed sharing a hot fudge sundae from the Ghirardelli Chocolate Shop!! Hopefully we can make a trip back on a sunnier weekend! Ellie loved seeing her Aunt Tina and all of the fun sites! Last week we left for a 5 day vacation in San Diego with my family! It was a fun time of relaxing, eating fresh seafood, walking along the coast, enjoying the view of the ocean, and playing in the sand. It was Ellie's first time at the beach and she loved it!! We were so glad Tina was able to come down from San Francisco to visit!! It was a wonderful weekend! Although we are sad our vacation is over, it is always good to get back home!

Swimming Lessons

At the beginning of June Ellie started her first swimming lessons at the Tech Rec Center. Over the 2 weeks she became familiar with kicking, scooping with her arms, blowing bubbles, crawling out of the pool and just having fun in the water! The last day of lessons she had a blast! She got to show off her new skills to Daddy, float the lazy river, play in the fountains, and even "jump" off the diving board for the first time!! She did great! Such a fun way to start off the summer! Here are some fun pictures to share from her last day of swim classes.
